Privacy Policy for “Heureusement que tu étais là !” VR App

Université Lyon 1 (« we » or « us ») is committed to protecting the privacy of users of our “Heureusement que tu étais là !” virtual reality education app (« the App ») in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

When you use the App, we collect the following types of data:

– Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, such as lessons completed and time spent, to fulfill our contract to provide the App’s features (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

– Device information: We collect data about your VR headset, including device ID and crash logs, to fulfill our legitimate interests in optimizing performance and fixing issues (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

We do NOT collect any sensitive personal data, precise geolocation, or data from children under 13 without parental consent. The App has no third-party advertising or in-app purchases.

How We Use Your Information

We use the data collected to provide the core functions of the App, improve our educational content based on aggregate insights, and promote safety and security (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b), (f)).

We do NOT sell your personal information to any third parties. We may share data with service providers that assist with operating the App, subject to strict data processing agreements (GDPR Art. 28).

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account information and usage data only as long as needed to provide the App’s functions, up to a maximum of 3 years after your last activity. Device data is kept for 12 months for troubleshooting purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time (GDPR Art. 17).

Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject, you have the following rights (GDPR Art. 15-20):

– Right to access your personal data and receive a copy 

– Right to rectify inaccurate or incomplete data

– Right to erasure (« right to be forgotten ») of your data

– Right to restrict processing of your data

– Right to data portability in a structured format

– Right to object to processing based on legitimate interests

– Right to withdraw consent for consent-based processing
